You can of course pick up an IDE hard drive from eBay, but it's probably going to be years old. For the last 15 years or so hard drives have been SATA so they don't fit into the Sony network adaptor. The PS2 comes from back when the standard for a hard drive was IDE. Next you need a PS2 network adaptor and here's where it gets interesting. There are methods to use the USB on the slim models but usb 1.1 is a lot slower than DVD so you get stuttering fmv and music so its not really worth the effort. So to begin, you need a fat, old model PS2 with an expansion bay at the back. So I thought I'd share my experiences, you can reply with yours and we can build this OP into a modern day guide. Also the security has been cracked wide open and the modding is easy to do. Yet I'd imagine it's powerful enough to do emulation, homebrew and all that. For me it's the last generation of console which didn't get firmware updates or online connectivity as standard. I've been meaning to explore the PS2 scene for a while.
